The History of Fjällräven and the Iconic Arctic Fox:

The idea for Fjällräven was formed when its founder Åke Nordin was aged just 14. As a keen hiker in the mountains of Västerbotten this intrepid, inquisitive teenager was not pleased with the design of the uncomfortable backpacks that were available at the time. After doing some research, he learned that a pack’s weight should be positioned high and close to the wearer’s spine and this gave him an idea. With his mother’s sewing machine and his father’s tools, Åke created a wooden-framed backpack in his basement.  10 years later in the very same basement, Åke founded Fjällräven and started selling his first framed backpacks. The brand’s story had begun.

Today, Fjällräven has come a long way from that basement in the north of Sweden. Now available all over the world, its extensive range of clothing and equipment is popular with both outdoor lovers and everyday users alike and we’re delighted to bring it to you at our store in the heart of Manchester.
