Purdey Country and Hiking Attire

At The Sporting Lodge, we’re celebrating Purdey’s successful 200 years of manufacturing. To include you in this special celebration, we’re stocking some very special products designed specifically in limited numbers. These no doubt will be the collectables of the future.

Purdey Limited Edition Book: "200 Years of Excellence"

One of the very special pieces is the Purdey: 200 Years of Excellence, a truly exclusive and limited edition book covered in goatskin with gold embossed lettering, and with only 200 copies produced. Inside the book, you will find the full history and craftsmanship of James Purdey and Sons, with over 170 pictures. Specially commissioned for the bicentenary, the book is signed by author Donald Dallas, current Purdey chairman Nigel Beaumont and Richard Purdey, retired chairman and great, great, great grandson of the founder. The book comes in a silk lined linen presentation box and is accompanied by a copy of the publishers edition of the book which can be thumbed through and enjoyed without damaging the leather bound edition.

The foreword is by H.R.H. The Duke of Edinburgh and there is an introduction by Richard Purdey.

Purdey English Delftware, Hand Painted Trinket Box

Designed for James Purdey’s bicentenary year, early English Delftware is highly collectable. James Purdey commissioned an English pottery to recreate its understated elegance in a collection of earthenware inspired by English sporting scenes from Alken’s ‘Characteristic Sketches of Shooting’. This book of engravings, first published in 1826, belonged to James Purdey and is still on display in the Long Room at Audley House, London. Each piece is crafted and painted entirely by hand in the Cotswolds, and the range includes a trinket box (pictured above), candle pot, large and small desk bricks and olive dish.
