This superb Filson holdall is made from an oil finished Tin Cloth. The Tin Cloth itself is a tightly woven cotton canvas, the threads are so densely woven that the fabric created is resistant to tearing, abrasion and moisture. The oil finishing to the cloth is a petroleum based wax which increases the fabrics water repellence. The fabric does have an oily texture, and does take its time to soften, but will provide strong protection against rain, mud and other elements.
The carry handles are made from saddle-grade bridle leather and are extremely durable. The removable shoulder strap is made from a heavy duty webbing with leather reinforcement and durable brass snaps. The carry handles also feature a two-snap grip and are also long enough to be slung over your shoulder should you wish to carry it in this way. The base of the bag is reinforced and structured allowing protection and easy packing.
The external pockets and main compartment are closed with a rust-resistant solid brass zip. In all this bag has 7 pockets, the two zipped pouches to the front have a convenient zip that opens up the top and side of the pouch. To the inside, as you look at the bag the right pocket has a smaller zippered internal pocket, and to the left, the pocket has an organising panel for pens or your phone. Behind these zippered pockets are deep open pouches, and of course the main compartment itself.
Also included is Filson’s original oil finish wax, to help maintain maximum water repellence.
