The Fjällräven Classic

Hikers taking part in the Fjallraven Classic wearing Fjallraven protective clothing and backpacks

The Fjällräven classic is a trek through nature carrying all you need on your back while Fjällräven themselves take care of all the logistics. From transport to route planning.

“It’s not a competition or a race. It’s a chance to socialise with other hikers and enjoy the trek of a lifetime.”

Fjällrävens founder Ake Nordin came up with the idea at the start of the 21st century taking inspiration from the landscape and scenery of Sweden. He wanted to give others the opportunity to explore the same landscapes and feel the freedom of spending a few days trekking on the trail. Here is where The Classic was born

Camping out in the Scandinavian wilderness during the Fjalraven Classic

As Fjällräven wasn’t as established as it is today the initial focus was to get more Swedes out into the mountains. Kungsleden (The King’s Trail) was chosen for the first Classic with just 152 finishers in 2005. 10 years later there were 2136 finishers and has been even more every year since. Now taking place in eight different locations across the world, the same founding concept remains. These locations include Sweden, Denmark, Germany, US, Korea, and Hong Kong.

This Year Fjällräven Manchester store manager, Darren will be taking part in The Classic in Sweden, The original – and longest – Classic between the 12th-19th of August. Over 110km in length with all his supplies on his back throughout. Experiencing pristine Scandinavian wilderness, encountering the occasional reindeer, and exploring complete freedom. His journey will be documented over on The Sporting Lodge, My Fox Bag & Fjällräven Manchester Store Socials. We wish him the best of luck!
