Fjallraven Luhkka Cape

Price : £225.00
Product details

Smart knee-length cape inspired by the Sami's versatile and practical Luhkka.

Can be worn on its own during the fall and spring and as a reinforcement garment over normal winter clothing on cold winter days - just as the Sami have always worn it.

When worn over normal shell garments it offers flexible protection against the cold and bitter winds, and any snow can be quickly shaken off before going indoors. A thin synthetic lining has been added to the strong, wind and water resistant G-1000 for extra warmth.

The cape has a fixed, adjustable hood with detachable synthetic fur edging and a reflective band in the back. There is a half zipper in the front and a G-1000 gusset in the opening with soft fleece on the inside. A breast pocket is positioned immediately beside the opening and further down there is a kangaroo pouch that can be accessed from both the inside and the outside of the garment. Push buttons at the wrists hold the cape in place when you are on the move. Zipper pulls and the trim are in natural tone leather.

  • Material: G-1000® Original: 65% polyester, 35% cotton

  • Environmental-info: Natural Impregnation

  • Filling: 100% polyester

Even today, Samis use the luhkka (literally translated as bad weather collar) as a layer of insulation on top of other winter garments. It offers excellent protection from snow and wind while at the same time providing unbeatable mobility and ventilation. Taking the traditional garment as a model, Fjällräven created the Luhkka Cape in durable g-1000, adding a thin synthetic lining for extra insulation. The Luhkka Cape is also slightly longer than the original, with push buttons on the side to keep out the wind.
